We began as the Bury Student Orchestra

But as we grew we realised that didn't quite describe us anymore

When we started life as an orchestra the common thread we had was that Tom was our music teacher. Many of us are still Tom's students but as the time went by we were joined by other musicians until the idea that we are an orchestra of students no longer quite fitted. So we came to a consensus that "community" was the word we wanted to use to describe ourselves. It captures the family atmosphere and the relaxed ethos of our group but reflects the range of experience and ability we are proud of.
